AUDITIONS

October 3 & 4, @7:00 pm

at Westland Center for the Arts 33455 Warren Rd. Westland

Life is a cabaret, old chum, come to the Cabaret! It’s 1931 Berlin, and inside the Kit Kat Klub, British nightclub singer Sally Bowles keeps the delirious party raging. But no amount of booze, music, and dancing can slow the ominous march of a changing Germany as it draws ever closer. As the Nazis ascend to power, the musical focuses on the hedonistic nightlife and revolves around American writer Clifford Bradshaw's relations with Sally. The musical depicts Berlin as a carnival of debauchery and despair inhabited by desperate people who are unaware of the national catastrophe that awaits them. Winner of 8 Tony awards.

Miss Maple, a dowager with a reputation for "clever" weekend parties, invites a group of detective novel writers to eerie Ravenswood Manor on Turkey Island where they are to impersonate their fictional characters. The hostess has arranged all sorts of amusing incidents: a mysterious voice on the radio, a menacing face at the window, a mad killer on the loose. Who is that body in the wine cellar, anyway? Why do little figurines keep toppling from the mantle? Then, a real murder takes place and Miss Maple is outraged. She offers an immense reward to the "detective" who can bring the killer to justice. And what an assortment of zany would-be sleuths! When they're not busy tripping over clues, they trip over each other! Hilarity ensues as the survivors seek the killer. The climax is a real seat-grabber as the true killer is unmasked and almost everyone turns out to be someone else!!
